Once upon a time there was in Seefeld not one, but two lakes of considerable size. This gave the whole area its name. As so often it was said by these two lakes, which are unfathomable deep underground and stood with one another.
A man from Seefeld once made fun of and called out to his friends: "I'll show you all that the lakes are not so deep" high spirits, he mounted his horse and rode straight into the lake.
